Using my immediate locality to walk, sketch and create concertina sketchbooks, I have used these to create further charcoal drawings to inform small, medium and large paintings. Once the paintings are underway, something else magical arrives, those serendipitous moments that surprise and delight and take a painting much further than you had anticipated.
