Christmas Art & Design Trail in full flow, great response.

"Transcending" and "The Wind is whistling", two new paintings. Open studio now in full flow and what an amazing time we are all having. Learning the response to our work. We have found the visitors really engaging with our work and even asking us to consider showing our work at other venues!

"On the Edge, II" Nov 2014

Working in acrylic on board. Creating layers. Letting the painting "evolve" and this harbour type scene was created from marks made previously underneath. This image is holding a certain fascination for me at the moment, although I can't explain exactly why that it.

Lost it's way across the sea

Making decisions as the painting progresses and also feeling my way on this painting by listening to music. Really enjoyed the process. Used some gold paint on this image.

Obsessed with Landscape, Vale of Eden, Beckington

Obsessed with my immediate landscape - the Vale of Eden, a natural connection with the place I know and love so well. In the sketchbook today. I am drawn to the tree on top of the hillside, it's very distinctive shape. I have to hurry to paint this image as the cows are about to come down into the field. Fast and furious I paint.

"Gone past the hour"

This painting has been chosen to appear as the Editors Choice in The Artist Magazine, January issue. The majority of my work comes from direct observation which is usually created in the sketchbook. I was particularly drawn to paint this image of my dinning room due to the soft, subtle, warmth sunlight of the autumn afternoon playing upon the mirror and walls and decided to create a small watercolour study directly onto watercolour paper. I prefer to have the actual physical presence of what I am painting rather than a photographic interpretation. The reason being I feel reality makes the artist use different thought-processing skills in order to make judgements about what to paint and how
